History
The people of
Ode Remo originated from Ile-Ife, the cradle of the Yorubas. Specifically, they came from Ilode and
Iremo quarters of the ancient city of Ile-Ife. They migrated through thick forest, rivers and
streams until they got to a point at the Ijebu Waterside where the people attempted to settle, that
place is now known as “Ode Omi”.
However, the oracle which was the guide, directed them to move on until the people reach the
present day site where they settled.

Oba (Surv.)
Adetunji Amidu Osho
was born to the two Royal Families of Owadaniyan and Apondele at Ode Remo. His late father Mr.
Lamidi Dehinde Osho was of the Owadaniyan ruling house whilst his late mother Mrs. Morolahun
Abadatu Osho came from the Apondele ruling house.
He assumed the throne of his predecessors as the Alaye Ode of Ode Remo on 26th April
2009 with the message of “love” among his subjects and adopted the appellation “Owadaniyan II”.

The Yo
rubas
The origin of the Ijebus has been variously given. One account makes them spring from the
victim offered in sacrifice by the King of Benin to the god of the ocean. Hence, the term
“Ijebu” from “Ije-ibu” (that is, the food of the deep).
The Ijebus themselves claim to have descended from “Oba-nita,” thus, referring to themselves as
“Ogetiele, eru Obanita” (that is, “Ogetiele, servants of Obanita”). But who was this
“Obanita?”
